They haven't jumped on the pop reunion bandwagon yet, but it looks like Steps finally may be getting on board. In an exclusive interview, former Steps singer Lisa Scott-Lee, 32. told woman.
'We talk about it all the time, and we've had some fantastic offers - but it's not about money, it's about the right timing.' Of course, the Spice Girls have wrapped up their sell-out reunion tour, while acts like 5ive, All Saints and East 17 have all failed in their comeback attempts.
But Boyzone kick off their tour at the 02 Arena at the end of May, and there's no end in sight to Take That's successful return - so what are Lisa, Faye. Claire, H and Lee waiting for?
Lisa had originally planned a career break after she and her husband, ex-Hear'Say singer Johnny Shentall. had welcomed Jaden into the world, but says she's already being tempted back to work.
'I've just been offered a deal to do a TV documentary about extreme celebrity skinny mums, and I'm gigging as a solo artist this month too,' she reveals.
'But when we had our last reunion offer, Claire Richards had just had her son Charlie, and now I've got Jaden, along with all my other commitments, so I'm not sure if it's on for us yet.'
But as long as the channels of communication are open, there's always a chance the band will regroup - and the girls are closer now than when Steps split in 2001. and friendships were strained. 'I see the others all the time,' says Lisa, who lives in Berkshire with Johnny, 29. 'Claire and Faye have
both been round to see Jaden.
Claire brought practical presents, like dummies, nappy creams, and bath towels. She's been there and knows what we need!'Jaden arrived at the end of February, so Lisa's still getting used to the newest role on her bulging CV.
The best thing about being a mum is the looks of love. When I stroke Jaden's cheek he smiles.' she gushes. 'Part of me loves being at home with Jaden - but another part of me loves having my hair done and getting dressed up as Lisa rather than Mum.
'I'm probably one of the most ambitious people I know. I often wondered when I was pregnant how I'd feel about going back to work. I left it open and decided to play it by ear.'
Which was Just as well, as she says the documentary offer was too good to miss! I'll be finding out if stars really do have a nip and tuck while giving birth!
'I've also got a club tour, and I'm playing Gay Pride in Gran Canaria. The gay community's very accepting, and won't mind if my body's still a bit wobbly round the edges!'
Lisa's also confident she's got 'a man who can' beside her in Johnny. 'When he takes Jaden with him to watch the football on the sofa, and he's laying there with Jaden asleep on his chest, I just melt. Maybe in future we'll have a nanny, but right now we're loving just being the three of us.'
